Privacy policy

At a glance: This website sets no cookies, loads no fonts, maps or scripts from third-party servers, performs no audience measurement and does not count downloads. Only access data technically generated when a page is requested are processed.

1. Controller

Marc Fischer
Mesenicher Str. 28
54308 Langsur
Germany
Email: mf@etis-gmbh.de

There is no legal requirement to appoint a data protection officer.

2. Website requests (server logs)

When you request a page, your browser sends technically necessary data that the hosting provider stores in logs:

  • The requesting device’s IP address
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the requested file
  • Amount of data transferred and the request’s success status
  • Browser and operating system
  • The previously visited page (referrer), if your browser supplies it

Purpose: Delivering the website, operational security and defending against attacks.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation.
Retention: Hosting logs are retained for a maximum of 35 days.

These data are not combined with other sources and no profiles are created.

3. Hosting

The website is hosted by netcup GmbH. The provider processes the above access data on my behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR. The servers are in Nuremberg, Germany.

4. No cookies or audience measurement

No cookies are stored. Only your chosen light or dark appearance, including screenshot appearance, is saved locally in your browser’s Local Storage and is not transmitted to the server. Language is determined by the page URL. There is no analytics or statistics software, and consequently no consent banner.

5. No third-party content

Fonts, images, styles and scripts are served exclusively by our own server. No Google Fonts, content delivery networks, embedded videos or social media components are used. Visiting this website does not transmit your IP address to third parties.

6. Software downloads

No registration or personal information is required. Requests for installation files appear in the same access logs as page requests. Downloads are not counted or analyzed separately.

7. Contact by email

There is no contact form. If you write to me, I process the information in your message solely to respond.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in handling enquiries.
Retention: Until the enquiry has been fully handled, unless a statutory retention requirement applies.

8. The application itself

This policy covers the website. For completeness, the installed application:

  • FITSORA works locally. It sends no usage data or crash reports and does not automatically check for updates.
  • Location selection loads OpenStreetMap tiles and uses Nominatim for place searches, transmitting your IP address and search term. Entering coordinates manually avoids that connection.
  • Target and field loads sky cutouts from CDS Strasbourg’s hips2fits service, transmitting your IP address and requested sky coordinates. Results are cached locally. Offline the field view remains usable without its background image.
  • The Backup manager and its optional Windows background task write only to folders you selected and send nothing to third parties. Backup notifications are local; there is no email or internet service. Backed-up files and reports are unencrypted wherever you store them.

9. Your rights

You have rights of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability (Article 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). Contact the address above to exercise them.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR), such as the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate.

10. Effective date

This policy applies from September 2026, with the Backup manager added in October 2026. It will be updated when the service changes.
